We recently upgraded our vCenter from version 5.5 U2 to 6.0 U2.
We now need to continue and upgrade all of our ESXi hosts (also from 5.5U2 to 6.0U2), and I have a question regarding this process:
Is Update Manager recommended to upgrade the hosts? I'm asking this because, from my experience with OS upgrades (also Windows, etc.), it's always recommended to format and install a "clean" OS, and not to perform an upgrade.
So, does upgrading ESXi with Update Manager is equal to installing a fresh ESXi?
If I upgrade with UM, are there any known issues and things that can go wrong in the future?
I've already tried updating with UM in our lab, and at one of our customers and everything seems to work perfectly, but I still concern that something might go wrong in the future because this is not a a fresh install....
