A complete beginner here; I've some theoretical knowledge on virtualization but not real experience over vsphere. I'd like to expand and merge my IT services into one new server which are now on separate hardware boxes. I also want to setup a software based pbx aswell. Current and future services are as follows:
1. Windows Xp computer serving as
- Firewall+Vpn Server (kerio winroute)
- Mail Relay Server (hmail)
- Web & Dns server (centos inside vmware player)
- Music Server (broadcasting to in house music system)
2. Windows Vista computer serving as
- Network File server (network share serve to 5 users)
- Runs Backup software (destination another nas)
3. Windows / Linux computer will serve as
- Software based pbx
New version of firewall is provided as virtual appliance as well as Linux based pbx (Elastix). Those services do not demand much computing power over all but what kind of hardware do you suggest and what is the best practice to consolidate these services into one box?
