vCenter upgrade from 5.0 to 5.5: Add DNS domain name as a native Active directory identity source

I am planning to upgrade a 5.0 vCenter to 5.5.

The vShpere environment is used for testing and is not integrated with Active Directory, so users log on to the vCenter using local vCenter users and groups.

During the upgrade I have the option to check a box saying "Add <DNS_domain_name> as a native Active directory identity source".

Can anybody please explain what does it mean?

What is it supposed to happen if I don't check the box?

Local vCenter users and groups will be able to logon again after the upgrade?

Even if it is a testing environment I cannot create any kind of problems to the current users, so selecting the right answer is critical...

Regards

Marius
